The Thunderbolts Girls Track and Field team have begun the year off with early season success. The girls have captured victories at home in the Jack Lintz Invitational. They took home the traveling trophy in the GMC vs GWOC “Clash of the Titans” meet at Sycamore, and just recently they won the Miamisburg Invitational. “We are just strong all around from distance, to sprints, to field. We are scoring in all events” said Coach Barnes. According to Coach Barnes ”This has been a great season, because all the girls are committed to be better than their competition during practice and in the meets.
The team is lead with top seniors, Mel Barrett (Distance), Jayla Tarver (Spirits), Jasmine Hooks (Shot/Disc), and Saraea Spurgin (Pole Vault), as well as, top juniors Mattea Parker (sprinter), Aubrey Kosak, Jordan (Distance), Taylor Selman (shot/disc). This years youth have not been afraid to step up and make this year’s Thunderbolts team the best in several years. The girls team top freshman and sophomores have been sophomore Leila Hill (hurdles), freshman sprinters Lauren Daniel, Ashley Hoke, Katie McCrary, and Madison Blessing (mid-distance). On Friday, the varsity team will be competing at the Edwin C Moses Dayton Relay at Welcome Stadium. Field events begin at 3:30pm and running events will begin at 4:00pm.
