The Northmont Varsity Boys’ Golf Team competed in the Greenville Invitational today at Turtle Creek Golf Course. The weather was perfect with low humidity and temperatures in the high 70’s. This made the golf course play fast and firm and required a lot of thought around the difficult par 71 layout at Turtle Creek GC. Northmont posted a team score of 351 which was good for 5th place in the 12 team field.
Leading the way for the Thunderbolts was junior Noah Thayer who posted a total of 85. This was Noah’s third straight tournament in the 80’s as he continues to be a key contributor for the varsity squad this season. Junior Alec Avdakov may have had the round of the day for Northmont. After posting a disastrous score of 10 on the par 4, 18th hole (his 2nd hole of the day), Alec kept his composer on his way to an 18 hole total of 86. Senior Cole Stephens and sophomore Gavin Caras both carded rounds of 90 to complete our team scoring for today’s event. Junior David Richards posted 94, and sophomore Justus Thomas added a score of 96.
The Varsity Bolts are in action again on 8/14/17 when we tee it up in the Troy Invitational at Troy Country Club. The start time for that tournament is 12:00 pm.
