The Northmont Varsity Boys’ Golf Team faced off against Xenia High School today on the front 9 holes of Meadowbrook at Clayton. The Thunderbolts came ready to play and their team total of 168 was good for a home course victory over Xenia’s team score of 212. Northmont has been so close to winning all five of our previous dual matches of the season. We had a very solid team performance today which led to our first head to head win of the season. It was nice to have the support of so many friends and family members who were in attendance at today’s match.
Leading the way for the T-Bolts was junior David Richards who cruised around the par 36 front nine in just 39 strokes. David’s round included 6 pars against just 3 bogies. Senior Cole Stephens sank a crucial 30-foot bogey saving putt on the par 5, 2nd hole to jump start his round and help him post an impressive score of 40. Smooth swinging sophomore, Gavin Caras, had his best performance in several weeks with a round of 43. Junior Alec Avdakov posted a score of 46 which included just 16 putts to round out our team score. Not far off the mark was junior Noah Thayer who carded 47. Junior Jackson Trottier battled all afternoon on his way to a score of 54.
The Thunderbolts look to continue this success on the course when we face off against the Miamisburg Vikings at home on Tuesday. Match start time is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
