I am a Northmont Graduate (1977) and I played both Football and wrestled while I was in High School. I continued playing football in college at Ball State University while earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education in 1982. The day I Graduated I met my wife Katy, whom I have been married to for 36 years. She blessed me with 7 great kids (6 boys and 1 girl) all of which have graduated from Northmont except our youngest Eli who is a Junior. Katy also has brought me closer to Jesus Christ and has instilled in me faith, family, and in my case, wrestling.
I have coached football, track, and wrestling while at Northmont and have been the Head Wrestling Coach here for 32 years. I have been blessed with not only great wrestlers, but great kids over that time and still keep in contact with quite a few of them. If you know me there are 3 things close to my heart, shorts, visors and MICHIGAN. I was raised in Michigan and still have family there. Our 5th son Gabe was fortunate enough to earn a football scholarship to play there last year.
One of the highlights of my life was when Coach Harbaugh drove down to have dinner with our family last winter. When he left, I noticed he had forgotten his jacket and I thought, what a great addition to my Michigan room. Then 10 minutes later there was a knock on our door as he came back to get it. I retired from teaching at the middle school after 33 years but I still enjoy coaching the many fine young men at Northmont.
