The JVB Bolts’ two pitchers didn’t allow a single hit, as Northmont defeated Piqua 10-0 on Monday. Maddox Simmons started and struck out 9 batters through 4 innings of work. Charlie Williams came on in relief and struck out the last batter of the game to seal the no-hitter.
Northmont got things started in the first inning, scoring 3 runs on 4 hits, including hits from Simmons, Chris Gross, Clayton Prewitt, and Jacob Beck.
The Bolts were patient at the plate as Piqua struggled to throw strikes. In total, Northmont walked 12 times and had one batter reach after being hit by a pitch. Simmons led the team with 4 stolen bases. Trey Quincy and Connor Jasinski both made good plays on fly balls. Simmons, Dylan Allamon, Jasinski, Tucker Sereika, and Gross all scored runs for the Bolts.
The rematch between the two teams will be played Tuesday evening at Piqua. Go Bolts!
